What Elicit does
Elicit is an AI research tool aimed at scientists, analysts and teams who need evidence behind a decision. Its research agent gathers material from scientific databases, academic journals, public data sources and documents you upload, then turns the findings into cited outputs such as reports, tables, figures, calculations and slides.
The agent shows how it plans and reviews evidence, and each claim links to the passage, table or figure that supports it. Reports can be customized, including which papers are used and what information they cover. Other workflows include a systematic review process for screening papers and Routines for tracking new research after a search proves useful.
Pricing is freemium and charged per user. Basic is free, with unlimited search but limited usage of the research agent and reports. On the pricing page, Plus is $11 per month billed yearly, Pro is $39 per month billed yearly and Scale is $89 per month billed yearly. Enterprise pricing is custom and adds security controls, plus larger screening scale of 40,000 papers.

Our take
Elicit fits researchers, pharma and academic teams, and analysts who want literature searching, data extraction and cited write-ups in one place, and who value being able to trace each claim to its source. The free Basic plan lets you try search before paying. Trade-offs: heavy agent and report use is limited on the free tier, paid plans are priced per user, and the pages we read show only yearly-billed per-month prices. The pricing page also appears to show two sets of Pro and Scale prices, so confirm the current figures before buying. It is a research tool, not a general writing assistant.
