What Activepieces does
Builds automations and AI agents that connect 770+ apps, with a visual builder, chat-based creation and optional human approvals.
Activepieces is a workspace where teams build automations and AI agents without sending everything through developers. You describe a job in chat or assemble it in a visual builder: choose a trigger, add steps from more than 770 apps, branch or loop, and drop in TypeScript where a step needs custom logic. Agents get a goal plus the tools, flows and files you allow, and sensitive steps can pause for a person's approval. Tables hold data that flows and agents can read and write, and an MCP server lets outside AI clients work with what you built.
The core is MIT-licensed, so you can run it yourself with Docker or Kubernetes, or use the vendor's cloud. Larger setups add SSO, roles, audit logs and your own secret manager, and you can bring your own AI provider keys.
Pricing is based on credits. The Free plan gives 1,000 credits a month and up to 5 users. Plus costs $20 per month billed monthly with 10,000 credits, and Team costs $200 per month billed monthly with 50,000 credits and 25 users. Going over on those two plans costs $0.007 per credit. Ultimate is custom and sold through sales. One run uses one credit however many steps it has, while AI steps cost more depending on the model tier.

Pros and cons
Pros
- Free plan with 1,000 credits a month and up to 5 users
- MIT-licensed core that can be self-hosted with Docker or Kubernetes
- Flows, agents, tables and chat live in one workspace with 770+ apps
- Agent steps can wait for a human approval before acting
Cons
- Free and Plus plans are limited to 5 users
- Going over credits on Plus and Team costs $0.007 per credit
- AI steps cost 2, 10 or 20 credits depending on model tier
- Agents remember nothing between runs, and SOC 2 is still in progress
Our take
Activepieces suits teams that want automation and AI agents in a single workspace, and especially those who care about self-hosting or an open-source core. The credit model is simple for ordinary flows, since a run costs one credit regardless of steps, but AI-heavy work uses credits faster. Small groups can start free, though the Free and Plus plans cap users at 5. Annual per-month prices are not shown in the page text we reviewed, and the SOC 2 program is still in progress, so buyers with strict compliance needs should ask the vendor directly.
