What Agenta does
Lets teams build AI agents through chat, connect them to apps, and run them on schedules or triggers with approval controls.
Agenta is an open-source workspace where teams build AI agents by chatting with them, then let those agents handle recurring work. Agents can work with connected apps and files, and the pages list more than 1,000 integrations and MCP servers. They can also be published to Slack, WhatsApp and Telegram, so requests and feedback happen where a team already talks. Each agent gets its own computer and browser, plus a shared drive for knowledge and files.
You can put an agent on a schedule or attach it to event triggers, and tool permissions decide which actions run on their own and which wait for a person's approval. Run logs, evaluations and version history are included for tracking how agents behave. Models come from Agenta's included set, from your own API key, or from a ChatGPT subscription.
There are two ways to run it. Agenta Cloud is hosted by the vendor, with four plans: Hobby at $0 forever, Starter at $29 per month, Business at $299 per month, and a custom-priced Enterprise plan. Paid plans have no per-seat price. Usage is measured in credits, which pay for included models and for runtime. Hobby gives 75 free credits a day on up to 10 days a month, with 2 concurrent tasks, 1 project and 2 team members. Starter adds 2,900 credits a month and Business 32,000. The open-source edition can be self-hosted for free with Docker Compose.

Pros and cons
Pros
- Open-source edition is free forever and can be self-hosted with Docker Compose
- Paid Cloud plans have no per-seat price and include unlimited team members
- Agents can be published to Slack, WhatsApp and Telegram
- Tool permissions let you require approval before actions run
- Works with your own API key or ChatGPT subscription, not just included models
Cons
- Hobby is limited to 2 team members, 1 project and 2 concurrent tasks
- Credits expire and do not roll over
- Runtime still uses credits even when you bring your own API key
- SSO and SOC 2 Type II report on Cloud require the $299 per month Business plan
- Only monthly prices are shown; no yearly-billed price is published
Our take
Agenta suits teams that want AI agents working inside their existing chat tools and apps, and that value the option to self-host the open-source edition on their own infrastructure. The credit model, with no per-seat price, may appeal to larger groups, since unlimited team members are included from Starter upward. The trade-offs are practical: credits expire and do not roll over, runtime uses credits even with your own API key, and the free Hobby plan is capped at 2 team members and 1 project. Teams needing SSO or a SOC 2 Type II report on Cloud must go to the $299 per month Business plan. Self-hosting means operating the platform yourself. No free trial is stated; the free plan serves that purpose.

Frequently asked questions
Does Agenta have a free plan?
Yes. The Hobby plan on Agenta Cloud is $0 forever, and the open-source edition can be self-hosted for free.
How much do the paid Cloud plans cost?
Starter is $29 per month and Business is $299 per month. Enterprise is custom priced. Paid plans have no per-seat price.
What happens when I run out of credits?
There are no overage charges. Running tasks finish, but new tasks do not start until you have credits again. On Starter and Business you can buy more credits, for example 1,000 for $10.
Do I still use credits with my own API key?
Model usage costs no credits, but runtime still uses credits because the agent runs on Agenta.
Can I self-host Agenta?
Yes. The open-source edition runs on your own infrastructure with Docker Compose and has unlimited users, projects and agents.
