What Black Forest Labs (FLUX) does
Black Forest Labs is an AI lab that publishes the FLUX family of models. The current generation, FLUX 3, is presented as a single multimodal model covering image, video, audio and action prediction. On the video side, the vendor describes clips of up to 20 seconds with optional generated audio, started from text, an image or keyframes. Image generation is described as supporting many styles, accurate text rendering and complex prompts. A separate action model targets robotics, taking visual observations plus text instructions.
There are several ways in. You can try models in a browser playground without writing code, call them through an API, or download open weights and run them on your own infrastructure with fine-tuning and customization. Larger organizations can get an enterprise arrangement that combines the API with an open weights license.
Pricing for the API is pay as you go: the pricing page says there are no subscriptions and no seat fees, and you pay only for what you generate. A calculator on that page lets you choose a model and resolution and shows a per-image total in US dollars. Self-hosted licensing is sold in tiers named Builder, Platform, Professional, Enterprise and Synthetic Data.

Our take
Black Forest Labs fits developers and product teams that want to generate images or video through an API and pay only for usage, as well as organizations that need to run models on their own servers under a license. The open weights route and the fine-tuning rights suit teams that want control over deployment. Budgeting also requires working through the per-model, per-resolution calculator, and the licensing tiers need a conversation with sales or a purchase flow to learn what they cost.
