What Orca Security does

Orca Security is a cloud security platform of the CNAPP type. It gathers cloud configuration, identity permissions, vulnerabilities, workloads, compliance and AI systems into one connected view for security teams that run multi-cloud environments. Workloads are examined through agentless scanning, which the vendor names SideScanning, so nothing has to be installed on each machine. Where deeper detection and response is needed, a separate component called Orca Sensor can be deployed to workloads.

Instead of ranking issues only by severity score, the platform correlates signals, runs attack path analysis and checks reachability, so teams can filter for vulnerabilities an attacker could actually get to. The code side covers dependencies, IaC, images and secrets, with findings scored against cloud context. For AI, it inventories models, packages and agents, shadow AI included. Compliance checks across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Alibaba Cloud and Oracle Cloud come built in, and CIEM addresses identity risk.

Notifications can go to Slack, tickets to Jira, and data to a SIEM. The vendor says onboarding reaches full visibility in 24 hours.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Agentless scanning means no agent has to be installed on every workload
  • Covers cloud posture, identities, workloads, compliance, code and AI in one platform
  • Prioritizes risk with attack path and reachability analysis, not severity alone
  • Sends alerts to Slack, tickets to Jira and data to a SIEM

Cons

  • Advanced detection and response requires deploying the separate Orca Sensor
  • Business-value figures on the site are vendor claims, not independent results
  • Supported platforms and customer API availability are not stated

Our take

Orca Security suits security teams with several cloud accounts who want posture, workload, identity, compliance, code and AI findings correlated in one place, without placing agents on every workload. Its attack-path and reachability focus is meant to cut triage effort, though that is the vendor's framing. Runtime protection needs the separate Orca Sensor, and the business-value figures are vendor claims. Small teams with a single cloud and a tight budget should confirm cost with the vendor first.
