What Veqen does

Veqen collects AI spending from work and coding agents and from model provider APIs into one record. It attributes charges to people, teams, customers and projects, so finance and engineering can see who spent what. Connecting is done with read-only admin keys, and the vendor states that it does not read prompts, code or responses.

Pricing is split by product. Using both on paid plans gives 15% off. Every organization gets a 14-day Team trial with no card. The free tier keeps 30 days of history.

  • Cost per person and team across coding agents
  • Unexplained API-key spend detection
  • Key shut-off from Slack or dashboard
  • Provider bill checks against rate cards
  • Overcharge claims
  • Month-end close with QuickBooks or Xero entries
  • Cost and margin per customer
  • Python and TypeScript SDK plus OpenTelemetry

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Reads billing and usage, and the vendor says it does not see prompts, code or responses
  • Checks bills against provider rate cards and builds overcharge claims
  • Published prices, a 14-day Team trial with no card, and 15% off for both products

Cons

  • Key shut-off, invoice checks and month-end close are not in the free plans
  • Hourly per-key usage is available only from some providers
  • Free plans keep just 30 days of history
  • Team yearly price is shown only as a yearly total, so per-month yearly cost is not stated

Our take

Veqen fits companies where AI spend is spread across several providers and coding tools, and someone has to answer who spent what, whether a key is being misused, and how to book it. The per-person and per-spend-band pricing is published, and a free audit and free tiers let you look before paying. A single person with little API spend may not need more than the free tiers.

Frequently asked questions

Does Veqen read my prompts or code?

The vendor says no. It reads billing, usage and key lists, and the SDK sends usage fields and tags without prompts, responses or code.

Can I buy only one product?

Yes. Work and coding agents works without the SDK, and product inference works without any agent connected. Using both on paid plans gives 15% off.

What happens if I stop paying?

Plans move to Free at the end of the paid period. Free keeps 30 days of history, so older data should be exported first.
