What Gleap does

Answers customer conversations across chat, email, WhatsApp and phone with an AI agent, and hands hard tickets to your team with context.

Gleap is a customer support platform built around an AI agent called Kai. Kai answers customer conversations in the chat widget, email, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, Telegram, Slack and on the phone. When it cannot solve something, it passes the conversation to a teammate together with a short summary of what it already did.

The product is split into several agents. Kai Support answers and, from the Team plan, investigates hard tickets using logs, recordings, account data and code. Kai Copilot helps your staff draft replies and articles. Kai Code writes a change and opens a pull request that your engineers review. Kai Voice handles calls. An inbox, a help center and in-app bug reporting come with the platform.

Pricing has two parts. Starter costs $29 per month billed yearly or $35 per month billed monthly. Team costs $149 per month billed yearly or $179 per month billed monthly. Pro costs $299 per month billed yearly or $359 per month billed monthly. Enterprise starts at $999 per month billed yearly or $1,199 per month billed monthly. On top of the plan, AI work is billed by usage from a prepaid balance.

There is no free plan. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial that needs a card. Starter covers one seat and one project, while Team and above have unlimited seats.

Good for / Not for

Good for

  • Software teams that want bug reports investigated and turned into pull requests for review
  • Online shops that want an AI agent connected to Shopify or WooCommerce
  • Teams that want an inbox, help center and AI agent in one product

Not for

  • Anyone who needs a free plan: none exists
  • Teams that cannot add a card to start the 7-day trial

How to start

  1. Start the 7-day free trial; a card is needed and the first charge is on day 8. source

  2. Kai browses your site during signup, and a repository holding your code, your payment provider, your shop or your help center can be connected too. source

  3. Try your own questions out on Kai first, and after that enable it for chat, email, WhatsApp or phone. source

Limits and gotchas

  • Starter includes one seat and one project. source
  • Until the balance is topped up, AI work is paused. source
  • Kai stops at $1 whenever it handles a ticket, and a monthly budget as well as a daily cap are options you can configure. source

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Unlimited seats from the Team plan, with no per-seat fee
  • AI is billed by usage, and Kai stops at $1 each time it works on a ticket
  • Covers chat, email, WhatsApp, social channels and phone
  • Bug reports can turn into pull requests that engineers review and merge
  • SOC 2 Type II audited and GDPR compliant, with EU or US hosting

Cons

  • No free plan; Starter at $29 per month billed yearly is the cheapest option
  • A card is required to start the 7-day free trial
  • AI usage is billed separately on top of the plan price
  • Starter is limited to one seat and one project
  • Cost-per-resolution figures are vendor estimates, not guaranteed prices

Our take

Gleap fits software companies, online shops and service businesses that want the inbox, help center and AI answers in one tool, and that prefer paying for AI by usage rather than adding per-seat fees from Team upward. The path from a bug report to a pull request will interest product teams that have engineers. Weigh the trade-offs: there is no free plan, a card is needed for the trial, and AI usage is billed on top of the subscription. The per-resolution cost figures on the pages are the vendor's own estimates, so check them against your real tickets. Starter is limited to one seat and one project. Budget caps exist, and AI work pauses when the balance runs out.
