What Tavus does

Tavus builds interactive AI agents it calls PALs. A PAL appears on screen with a face and a voice, listens, and replies in real time, the way a person in a video call would. The company describes itself as an AI research lab working on human computing.

There are three ways in. Developers can use the API to build customized conversational video. People without engineering resources can use the PAL Maker, a no-code tool for creating and launching a PAL. Larger organizations can ask for Enterprise Solutions, where the Tavus team designs and runs a managed deployment.

PALs can present slide decks, generate charts or questionnaires on screen with Magic Canvas, join video conferences, and browse a product while sharing their screen. They can answer from documents you upload, remember earlier conversations, and run on hosted language models or one you bring yourself.

Pricing has two tracks. The PALs track for individuals has a Free plan at $0/mo, Plus at $20/mo and Max at $50/mo, which differ mainly in included call minutes. The Developer track starts with a free Basic plan, includes a Growth plan at $397/mo plus pay as you go, and offers Enterprise with custom pricing. The pricing page lists no annual billing prices.

  • Bring your own LLM or use hosted models

Cons

  • Free plan includes only 15 minutes of voice & video calls
  • Developer plans add pay-as-you-go charges on top of the monthly fee

  • Pricing page shows conflicting numbers for one developer tier

Our take

Tavus fits teams that want a talking, on-screen AI agent inside a product or a sales, support or training flow, and individuals who want a conversational companion. The no-code PAL Maker lowers the barrier for non-engineers, while the API suits developers. The trade-offs are usage-based limits: the free PALs plan includes only a few call minutes, and developer plans add pay-as-you-go charges on top of the monthly fee. Enterprise pricing is not published. The pricing page also shows conflicting figures for one developer tier, so confirm current numbers with the vendor. Anyone needing only text chat would likely not need this.
