What OpenTweet does

OpenTweet is a hosted posting service for X that can be driven by AI agents, developer code or a person working in a web calendar. An agent connects with one API key through an MCP server, a REST API or a command-line tool, and the vendor says no X developer account is needed. The MCP server exposes 43 tools, so a connected assistant such as Claude Code or Cursor can schedule posts, publish threads and publish long-form Articles.

Everything lands in a single queue. A post written by an agent and one dragged onto the calendar by hand show up as the same record, so a teammate can review, edit or reschedule it. Threads can hold up to 25 tweets. Beyond X, one draft can be cross-posted to Bluesky and LinkedIn as native posts; LinkedIn posts go to a personal profile rather than Company Pages, and analytics cover X only.

Other capabilities include AI text generation across seven models, connectors that turn content from outside sources into drafts, an evergreen queue that re-posts older tweets after a cooldown, and DM campaigns where a person must approve each message before it is sent.

Pricing is paid, with a 7-day free trial that requires a card. Pro costs $19.99 per month billed monthly, Advanced $29 per month and Agency $49 per month. The plans differ in daily post allowance, link posts, accounts and API keys; Pro allows 20 posts per day and 30 link posts per month. The vendor states there is no permanent free plan.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Agents can post through MCP, REST API or CLI with one key and no X developer account, according to the vendor
  • 43 MCP tools cover scheduling, threads, Articles and analytics
  • One draft can go to X, Bluesky and LinkedIn as native posts
  • Agent-made and hand-made posts share one editable calendar
  • Three plans, each with a 7-day trial: $19.99, $29 and $49 per month

Cons

  • No permanent free plan; the trial needs a card
  • The trial leaves out Evergreen, X Articles and DM sending
  • Analytics are X-only, and Bluesky and LinkedIn posts are not measured
  • LinkedIn posting is limited to a personal profile, and video is not cross-posted to Bluesky or LinkedIn
  • Agents cannot reply to others' posts unless X's mention rules allow it

Our take

OpenTweet suits developers and teams who want an AI agent to publish to X through a key instead of an X developer account, while keeping a human-readable calendar for review. It also fits creators who mainly want scheduling, threads and AI drafting in one place. It is a weaker match if you need analytics beyond X, video on Bluesky or LinkedIn, LinkedIn Company Pages, or a permanent free tier. X's own rules also stop agents from replying to other people's posts unless they are mentioned. Check which features the trial excludes before judging it.

Frequently asked questions

How much does OpenTweet cost?

Pro is $19.99 per month billed monthly, Advanced is $29 per month and Agency is $49 per month. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial.

Is there a free plan?

No. The vendor says there is no permanent free plan, only the 7-day trial, which requires a card and charges nothing until day 7.

Do I need an X developer account?

According to the vendor, no. You connect your X account from the dashboard with one click and use an API key from OpenTweet.

Can an agent reply to other people's posts?

Only in limited cases. The vendor says X lets an app reply only when the original author mentions it or quote-posts it, and OpenTweet is subject to that rule.

Can I cross-post video to Bluesky or LinkedIn?

No. The cross-posting page says video cross-posting to Bluesky and LinkedIn is not supported.
